2022-2023 Skills Update

We are proud that Winchester Youth Hockey has one of the strongest and most diverse skills programs among all town youth hockey programs. This season we are trying a new approach by integrating skills sessions into the weekday practices at Flynn. Our intent is to achieve the following objectives:

1.      Increase availability and utilization of skills sessions

2.      Make attending skills more convenient for families

3.      Reduce the weekly burden on coaches

We have three skills providers confirmed for the fall:

Driscoll- Starting October 1st Driscoll skills will take place at the Flynn Large ice in the 5PM, 6PM, and 7PM slots on Tuesdays

Jacqui Lovato- Starting Tuesday September 13, Jacqui will run skills for the small ice practices at 5:20PM, 6:20PM, and 7:20 PM on Tuesday and Thursday

Mike DiMare- Starting Tuesday September 20, DiMare will run skills for the small ice practices at 8:20PM on Tuesday and Thursday plus 9:20PM on Thursday

We continue to offer goalie specific skills using Stop It. If your child is a goalie and has not been contacted, please reach out to wyhalerts@gmail.com

Due to ice time limitations, not every team will get every skills provider, but during the fall each Mite, Squirt, and Peewee team will get:

·        Access to at least one skill session every two weeks

·        Exposure to at least two different skill providers

Additionally, Driscoll will be running skills independently at Flynn on weekends and will be offering a discount to any Winchester Youth Hockey members who sign up. Details to follow.

After the fall, we may add additional slots and providers as the season progresses. The current schedule is only through Thanksgiving and a new schedule will come for the winter season that starts after Thanksgiving.
