Girls Hockey Headed to States

The WYH Girls program had a big week as FOUR more girls teams are now headed to the State Tournament in March.

The U10Bs got things started with an exciting 6-5 W over Belmont on Wednesday night led by two goals from Winnie Nolan...

The U12 Bs followed next with a solid 3-1 team win over Waltham with multiple goal scorers...

On Thursday night the U10As took down Belmont with a total tean effort, behind two goals from Libby Jackson and great goaltending from Gracyn Walsh....

And the two days culminated with the U12As pulling out a thrilling team win. They played three periods of scoreless hockey, a scoreless 3 on 3 OT, and went to a shootout. They were sent to the State Tournament on the shootout winner by Scarlett Gustafson and a clutch save by Erin Alves who turned back every shot she saw all night.

Congratulations to all four teams who now join the U14As and Bs in the State tournament, meaning Winchester swept District 9 for U10, U12 and U14. Good luck to all the girls in March!
